Closer · How it works

Three tensions, not one stamp

Intimacy Tension Coordinates treat closeness as three measurable tensions instead of one personality stamp. Few enough to bring to dinner. Different enough that you are not stuffed into one costume.

Take the test

01 Premise

Why a coordinate system

Most intimacy tests either paste on a single label or explode into a radar so large it cannot be discussed. When a relationship hurts, neither format tells you what to talk about.

These three coordinates stay small on purpose — a dashboard you can actually use, not a mirror that only reflects a type name.

Control — Surrender

Do you relax when you are arranging the room, or when someone else is holding the map? This is not only “who decides.” It is where safety lives.

Distance — Immersion

How much self do you show, and how often do you need the connection relit? Immersion treats exposure as trust. Distance treats a private room as integrity.

Repetition — Novelty

Does pleasure come from a new peak, or from taking the same scene deeper? This axis predicts the year-three conversation.

03 Pairing models

Six intimacy pairings

The point is not “compatible or not.” It is: what is usually sweet here, and what is usually sore?

Mirror Pair

Three tensions almost match — high ease, shared blind spots.

Magnet Pair

One steers, one yields; one keeps a room, one dives. Stable complementary pull.

Tide Pair

You decide in the same direction, then tug on distance or novelty.

Handoff Pair

Two axes oppose, one aligns — a relationship that takes turns yielding.

Orbit Pair

One signal is quiet, the other is loud — you rotate around their tension.

Spark Pair

All three axes oppose — vivid, addictive, needs an external anchor to last.
